MBSB Fantastic 4 Campaign

Penang State Government Affordable Housing Project

Good news to all Penangites! The Penang State Government's affordable housing projects located at Jalan S.P. Chelliah in Penang Island and Bandar Cassia in Batu Kawan will be open to public for registration starting from 7th February 2013.

If you are interested in the affordable housing projects, you may walk in to counter in Komtar, PDC or MPSP Bandar Perda to register, operating hour is from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m everyday including Chinese New Year holidays and weekends. All Malaysians can apply but priority will be given to Penangites. The detail criteria of eligibility will be announced later.

RHB CNY Prosperity FD Promotion

Other than the ongoing 15 Months Step Up FD, RHB quietly launched another FD promotion, known as CNY Prosperity FD, from 21st January till 28th February 2013 or the target fund reaches RM 500 million, whichever comes first.

So far there is no official info in the website but according to information from branch, it is a 12-month tenure FD with minimum placement of RM 5000 (fresh fund) and the interest rate is 3.88% p.a. There is no requirement to bundle the FD placement amount with CASA.

This promotion offers very attractive rate as compared to 15 Months Step Up FD, the minimum placement is lower and the tenure is shorter with higher interest rate. Below is the comparison list of ongoing FD promotion in the market:

Standard Chartered Online FD

Standard Chartered Bank's FD promotion is finally back. This time, the promotion is on the new Online Fixed Deposit Registration Service with SCB, started from 22nd January and ends on 2nd February 2013 or when the FD fund reaches RM 100 million, whichever comes first.

Online Fixed Deposit Registration Service is open only to individual Malaysian citizens, residing in Malaysia. FD placed via this service must be amounts from RM5,000 - RM50,000 only. Individual customers are able to get the special interest rate of 3.50% p.a. for 6-month tenure with fresh fund deposit. The FD will automatically be renewed for further 6-month periods upon maturity, at the then prevailing board rate.

Apple's Red Friday Sale

Similar to Black Friday in the United States, Apple will be having Red Friday Sale on this coming Friday 25th January 2013 to celebrate the upcoming Chinese New Year.

Same as the Black Friday Sale, Apple will be offering one day discounts on Macs, iPads, iPods and accessories but not on iPhones. This Red Friday Sale is only available in Asia countries like Malaysia, Thailand, Singapore, Philippines, China, Taiwan and Hong Kong.

There is no details on the deal but it should be same as previous year with discounts of up to 8% on iPads, 10% on iPod Touch, and a flat discount of RM 311 on all models of MacBook Air, MacBook Pro, and iMac. Free shipping will be offered as well.

OCBC presents OCBC Save Easy Deals from from 1st January until 31st March 2013. The campaign consists of 3 FD promotions and 1 investment promotion.
